Procrastination Is…: Watching an Infographic Video
Procrastination is the deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite this human behavior as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting or completing any task or decision. [1] Psychology researchers use three criteria to categorize procrastination: for a behavior to be classified as procrastination, it must be counterproductive, needless, and delaying.[2]
For an individual, procrastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt, the loss of personal productivity, the creation of crisis and disapproval from others for not fulfilling one’s responsibilities or commitments. These combined feelings can promote further procrastination. While it is normal for people to procrastinate to some degree, it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. Chronic procrastination may be a sign of an underlying psychological disorder.

Procrastination is looking up what procrastination is in dictionaries, online, wiki, as research to find an answer why you related so well to the procrastination visualization in examination.
To begin any process to find what it is you “like,” what it is that captures your interest, one has to of began such a search prior in order to find results. In this particular case the search began with visualcomplexity.com. Not long into the investigation I found my interest unable to remain held. While there were interesting presentations of certain data and even inventive and intriguing realization with that data, my attention could only be held as a means of learning something new. In terms of likes or dislike, it wasnt a dislike for this these pieces but the lack of connectivity with myself, personally. I find these data representation distance from the viewer and while I relate to the data I cannot connect with it because of that. This then becomes a reflection on what it is my personality finds interesting/ luring data.
The search continued and began a search through the postings at infosthetics.com. Another twist and type of visualization with data representation became more apparent - one that was able to capture and draw my attention more than before.

What caught my eye?
It was exactly that, a new perspective to a field that has been typically thought to consist of lines, graphs and numbers. The idea in fact is really not new, but new in the sense of being in front of ones specific attention. Additionally, light humor or attention to details are more visual to what a person is interacting with everyday. It takes that distance I found in the other form of representations and gaps it by addressing it in the datas specific setting – to the person in the moment resulting to making the exchange more personal. What also occurs in this more stimulating environment, felt by myself, still is an exchange of information; for example Information Graphics Vinyl Stickers for the Home does have a scientific calculation to it if being done accurately.
In around about way, it makes learning fun and we like that!
In the end though it was the sketch on procrastination that topped the rest with one additional factor. In a moment where I felt the pressure to produce an exceptional response to the data visual grouping, this piece actually did address each aspect of that genre that we had previously been taught, while at the same time addressing the current state I was in.. Procrastinating because of a pressure and then providing a lightening of the moment.
